Thank you for this fascinating and informative discussion. Although I'm not an economics and technology person, I am a systems theorist and big picture thinker and so found your discussion of the US/China interconnectedness-interdependency/autonomy-independence dialectic to be super interesting. I'm dismayed that I am the first to post a comment on this fantastic discussion. I forwarded it to a bunch of friends with glowing recommendations.

I'm also a lifelong student of East-West philosophy and have lately been focusing on the history of Chinese philosophy. For those of us who study these things, Chinese thinking offers Western postmodernism new ideas and ways of thinking that can help extricate it from it's own philosophical cul-de-sacs and endless dichotomous pseudo-problems. There are many great Chinese scholars out there but I must mention my favorite - Prof. Brook Ziporyn at the U of Chicago. His many books on Chinese thinking and Chinese Tiantai Buddhism detail a whole new way of understanding ourselves and the world.

Xie-Xie, Thanks again!
